NRA Personal Protection In The Home Course

Colorado Handgun Safety offers a wide range of courses to help individuals of all levels and interests. As the go-to handgun safety center in southern Colorado, we’re proud to offer multiple NRA courses. One of the courses we provide is the NRA Personal Protection In The Home course. Whether you want to build your self-defense skills, or want a refresher on the laws surrounding protecting yourself against an intruder, this course is filled with a ton of useful information. Upon completion of the NRA Personal Protection In The Home course, you’ll feel confident and prepared to protect yourself should the situation arise.

What's included in the NRA Personal Protection In The Home Course?

During this 8-hour class, you’ll learn the essentials of handling a gun safely when using it to protect you and your family. Some of the topics our experts will cover include tactics for responding to a home intruder, the legalities of using your weapon in self-defense, which gun is best for protecting yourself and your family and how to determine if it’s necessary to use your weapon. As part of this course, you’ll also have the chance to perfect your defensive shooting skills. You’ll shoot roughly 100 rounds of ammunition, and learn tips for shooting calmly while in a stressful situation.

At Colorado Handgun Safety, we understand you may have questions surrounding this class and the different aspects of using your weapon inside of your home. In an effort to answer your questions and help you better understand the benefits of enrolling in this course, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most common questions we receive.
Yes. In order to enroll in this course, you must be at least 21 years old and show that you’re an experienced shooter.
You can demonstrate your shooting experience by providing a certificate of completion for the NRA Basic Pistol course, pass the pre-course assessment, provide an NRA FIRST Steps course certificate, show an NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card or show military DD 214 with pistol qualification.
One of the NRA-certified instructors at Colorado Handgun Safety will teach this class.

The NRA Personal Protection In The Home course is only provided in person.
Unfortunately, you cannot. Not to worry though, we will provide you with adequate attention and personal training to help you succeed! Even though this class is completed in a group setting, with our advanced teaching skills, you’ll feel like you’re taking it in a one-on-one setting.
