All responsible firearm owners understand that it takes training, knowledge, and skill to shoot a firearm safely, no matter the type of firearm. If you’re a new shotgun owner, learning how to safely operate one is essential, even if you have experience with pistols or handguns. Our NRA Basic Shotgun Course is the perfect opportunity to learn everything you need to know about shotguns.
An NRA-certified instructor will lead the NRA Basic Shotgun Course and teach you the fundamentals of operating a shotgun. The informational course is about 10 hours long, and the schedule includes learning the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling and tips for shooting a shotgun at moving targets. Regardless of your shooting experience, our welcoming team will provide you with time in the classroom and the shooting range so you understand all aspects of being a shotgun owner. During this two-day course, you’ll learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude needed for safely handling a shotgun.

Yes! When you complete our NRA Basic Shotgun Course, you’ll receive a certificate of completion.
There is no expiration date for NRA training course certificates.
You are encouraged to bring your own shotgun and proper ammunition. Please inform our team before class if you don’t have a shotgun, and we will provide one.
You want to wear comfortable, protective clothing. Because shells will be flying around, it’s best to wear long pants, long shirts, and closed-toe shoes. We’ll provide protective gear such as goggles and ear protection.
