What’s Included In The Course?

All of our NRA courses are led by knowledgeable, NRA-certified instructors. Our NRA Basic Personal Protection in the Home Course helps law-abiding citizens learn how to respond to violent confrontations and various home invasion situations. 

You will shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition and learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety, more about firearms and the law, as well as the knowledge, skills, and attitude for defending yourself. Some other topics that will be covered include:

Our NRA Basic Personal Protection in the Home Course is an eight-hour course. It includes lecture-style class time and time in the range.

Yes! You can expect to shoot roughly 100 rounds of ammunition in this course.

To enroll in this course, you must be an experienced shooter. You can demonstrate this by showing:

  • Your NRA Basic Pistol Course certificate
  • Your NRA FIRST Steps Course certificate
  • Your NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card
  • Your military DD-214 with pistol qualification
  • Or by passing the pre-course assessment

You must be at least 21 years of age to enroll.

Absolutely! You will receive a certificate for successfully completing our NRA Basic Personal Protection in the Home Course.
