The Concealed Carry Permit Class is an intense four-hour comprehensive review of handgun safety and concealed carry law. This class is designed for all levels of shooters (beginners or individuals who have never shot before should talk with us about supplemental live fire training after the class).
We teach this class because we recognize that many of our students come into class with extensive firearms experience. Some class providers lump everyone together and ignore their students’ previous experience. This is not our approach.
Our class discusses the laws for concealed carry and the use of deadly force. It stresses the responsibilities of the concealed carry permit holder, pistol technique, and different methods of carrying. Completing this class will give the student a completion certificate necessary when applying for a concealed carry permit.
New shooters are welcome to attend, but are encouraged to seek live-fire training and/or practice with an instructor or experienced family member. Our concealed carry permit class meets all Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, and Florida concealed handgun permit training requirements.
We offer firearms safety training for students who have been court-ordered to attend a Firearms Safety Training class. This may include persons who have to plead or have been found guilty of minor firearms-related offenses.
We have worked with several Colorado Courts/Probation Departments to provide this service. It gives them an alternative to just penalties for low-level firearm accidents or the mishandling of firearms. We feel that it educates the firearms owner instead.
When you register for our course, you will be treated just like any other customer who wants to take a handgun safety class. At the end of the class, you will be given a Certificate of Completion that you can take back to the court to prove attendance in the class.
The NRA Basic Pistol course is a ten-hour class. This is a class for people who want or need live-fire training. The NRA Basic Pistol Course focuses on the fundamentals and is a great starting place for new shooters. Five hours of instruction occur in the classroom; the other five consist of live fire range instruction and handgun cleaning.

The NRA Basic Rifle Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to use a rifle in target shooting safely. This course is at least fourteen hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles.

The NRA Basic Shotgun Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target. This course is at least ten hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets.

Unlike firearm training courses, this program focuses on non-firearm self-defense techniques, crime prevention tips, and situational awareness skills that you can apply at home, work, or in the community. Whether you’re a college student, retiree, or working professional, this course gives you the confidence to take control of your personal safety.
As part of Colorado Handgun Safety’s commitment to responsible firearms education and self-protection training, the Refuse to Be a Victim® course is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to enhance their security mindset — whether or not they choose to carry a firearm. This class is offered in select locations across Colorado, and we encourage individuals, families, and community groups to contact us for availability or to request this course in your area.
This intermediate-level firearms training course is designed for law-abiding gun owners who want to develop the skills and mindset to defend themselves and their loved ones at home safely. Students will receive instruction on defensive shooting techniques, home protection strategies, and safe firearm storage practices. The course includes classroom discussion and live-fire training focusing on real-world scenarios.
As part of our mission to provide comprehensive firearms education in our state, Colorado Handgun Safety is proud to offer this NRA-certified course for individuals ready to go beyond basic safety. Whether new to home defense or looking to build on your existing skills, the NRA Personal Protection in the Home Course is a valuable step toward greater confidence and preparedness. The Basic Rifle Instructor Workshop is a two-day workshop that includes teaching, role-playing, and range drill instruction. It is designed for experienced shooters and instructors who have completed NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) and wish to share their knowledge with others. The cost is $295 per student.

Private range instruction is a good supplement to the Basic Concealed Handgun Class. Private instruction means one-on-one instruction focusing on firearm safety and shooting training. There is no waiting in line for your turn to shoot. Private range instruction is done in a fun, comfortable, and supportive environment. Instruction is encouraging and designed to diagnose and correct shooting errors while emphasizing safety. We will not yell at you. WE ARE NOT DRILL INSTRUCTORS.
Instruction will vary depending on the shooter’s experience level. We teach basic, intermediate, and advanced techniques. Tactical pistol training is available when requested. Our students have included military personnel, police and civilians, and first-time shooters. Our personalized shooting instructors in Colorado Springs are dedicated to helping students develop good firearm safety knowledge and assist with shooting technique and accuracy.
